This week I produced five self-portraits.

The first image was a simple lino print of myself. The image I used as a reference was a photo of me when I was tying my shoelaces. I added cat-like pupils to my eyes as I've been told on a few occasions that if I was an animal I would be a cat. It was interesting spending so long looking at my face, tracing the photo, transferring it to the lino, carving my face out, printing my face. The actual process took a lot of trial and error, I would print, analyse what could have been better, then refine. I did this two or three times before I was happy with it. Carving was quite stressful, it was very easy to carve too far and damage the raised parts.

For the second image I added one colour: red. It's fairly simple, red is my favourite colour. I used photoshop to select the background and my hair, then added a red overlay. My hair still looks black, but bits of red come through. I last dyed my hair a year ago but it still shines red in the sun. I can't escape red.

I produced a second lino print of a star for the third image. I scanned it into photoshop and added a yellow overlay. I then added this to my second image and used the lasso tool to cut out the star around my eye. 

The last two images are identical, except one is in black and white. For the final poster I added bark from a eucalyptus to the background. I love Australia's flora because it can only be found here, the bush is my favourite place.
